If dont read the rest of the blog read this

"make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.”

Message from the Author

I don't intend for this blog to be a well thought out and formatted literary work. I would like for it to be more reminiscent of a scrapbook journal like something Christopher would have kept. Documenting thoughts phrases, things that made an impact on him and he had to write down right away so he wouldn't forget. Philosophy and deep thoughts to review later as well as the action of daily life as he adventured throughout the country. I believe that this format is more useful to the reader to connect with Chris as it gives you better insight as to the way he thought and lived.

God Bless All!

Excerpts from a letter from Alex Supertramp to Ronald Franz

A letter from Christopher McCandless to Ronald Franz
"...So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure..."

"...Don't settle down and sit in one place. Move around, be nomadic, make each day a new horizon. You are still going to live a long time, Ron, and it would be a shame if you did not take the opportunity to revolutionize your life and move into an entirely new realm of experience..."

Papar

I feel relations to these monks known as papar. They were on a constant voyage. The risked their lives to claim new lands that belonged only to them.
When just a small amount of people showed up on the coast they had decided that the land became too crowded and that they must leave. They set off towards Greenland in their small vessels across storm-racked oceans.
They were driven by a hunger of the spirit.
When reading of these monks you are able to see their intense courage, reckless innocence, and the urgency of their desire which is starkly parallel to the lives and ideals of Everett and Christopher.Image result for papar monks drawing

WE ARE

I am not the only one to do this. Im not insane for this. There were others before me like bright lanterns leading us through the heavy fog of dull and demanding society. The fog that encompasses us and binds us to our earthly beings. Nowhere does the fog dissipate until we are finally on our own and wild. When we travel the fog vanishes and hangs low in the remains of our past selves. The ones we left so that we can feel free.

Solace is our peace where nothing else was.

US Hwy Alaska Mile 0

I have finally made my way towards Alaska. I've sent postcards to the ones who matter.   They are the only people who I want to know where I am...It's been a slow process getting here. Winding my way along what seems like endless highways. So far it has been treating me well and i'm ready to expand my horizons once more to the Alaskan bush. Live off the land once more. Live the way I want to. I've prepared long and hard for this. I am ready
