It seems that this man name Franz cares a lot about me... like he wants to be my father. He is getting to close to me and that's exactly why I left my home in the first place. The only connections I want to make are with myself and nature. I wrote him a letter explaining to him how he can live his life like mine. How to not get too comfortable and to embrace whatever comes his way. I want him to understand that I enjoyed all the times that we spent together but he would be wrong to think that joy only emanates from human relationships. Your deepest relationship should be with yourself and the way to achieve that is to spend a lot of time solo. I told him that he would be very glad if he did so.
"No man ever followed his genius until it misled him. Though the result were bodily weakness, yet perhaps no one can say that the consequences were to be regretted, for these were a life in conformity to higher principals." - Henry David Thoreau, Walden, or Life in the Woods
Who is Franz. What does he have to do with the main character. What is the message so far in the book.
